Cote D’azure
A French restaurant that also does Italian extremely well. The interior is nice and you would feel out of place in a tank top and flipflops. Try not to come when drunk as the bathroom is at the top of a particularly treacherous staircase. I’ve tried the steak, salad, and various raviolis, all of which were very good. I had the pizza the first time I came and found it excellent but it was only mediocre when I tried it again. Slightly pricey for the city at 50-60k kip per entrée but worth it for what you get.
Scandinavian Bakery
This is located in Namphou plaza next to. It has all kinds of pastries, cakes, cookies, chocolates, rolls, etc. You can even get bagels here. Everything is pretty good considering it’s located in a 3rd-world asian country. I like to come here for breakfast and there’s a variety of combos to choose from including eggs and fresh fruit. The food is somewhat overpriced for the city but you’ll probably find it cheap. The bakery can get very crowded at peak times.
Swedish Pizza Baking House
One of the few places in town to get a decent pizza. It’s nothing special but the price is ok. They have good sandwiches that can be a bargain if you get them on a ciabatta instead of a roll or crescent. It’s literally over twice the size for $.10 more. They also have salads and a rotating menu but I’ve never tried these. Important note: avoid the baguettes here and at sister store Scandinavian Bakery. It is essentially Wonder Bread baked into the shape of a baguette. There are far better baguettes available.
Taj Mahal
Tasty Indian food at a very good price and absolutely no frills—a winning combination. I eat here at least once a week.
